This is a friendly reminder to let you know that any CentOS 5 systems you still have running will stop receiving updates from March 31st, 2017.

  1. What is the support ‘end of life’ for each CentOS release?

CentOS-5: updates until March 31, 2017

CentOS-6: updates until November 30, 2020

CentOS-7: updates until June 30, 2024

So you have 6 months left to plan and execute a migration to a newer OS, like CentOS 7 (which’ll get you to 2024).

Let’s face it, CentOS 5 has had it’s prime and is long due for a more modern replacement. Go and get the benefits of a more up-to-date kernel and packages!
