How far can you stretch it … A government official at the Department of Homeland Security has expressed interest in a new bracelet for airline passengers. With this bracelet it would be possible to replace the boarding pass (so you wouldn’t be able to lose it, go in-and-out of a plane, …), track a passengers’ whereabouts and store individual data of such a passenger (think astma- or epileptic-passengers). Oh, and the best part? It can also be used to shock individuals, in case they become a threat on the plane, hereby immobilizing the subject. Hooray for technology?
Chances are this’ll never see the daylight, as the idea is as absurd as it is dangerous. Imagine hacking into the main system that controls this … one click on a button, and all passengers in all planes get knocked out. Pretty easy way to rob people I reckon ….
They also have a promotional video, to ‘showcase’ the possibilities. Ofcourse, it’s loaded with 9/11 video fragments, just to dramatize the situation.
